Islamic perspective on April fool - All you need to know

🤡 *DON’T BE FOOLED*.

 Assalamualaikum warahmotullahi wabarakatuhu

As it as come to the notice of the scholars in Islam that majority of our youths now engage in celebrating unnecessary festivals such as Christmas, New year, Easter and even April fool.

Several lectures have been delivered to clarify what exactly are behind this festivals.

Insha Allah we shall be covering the part of April fool alone today starting from the history to the consequences.

🤖In the early 1570s, France's King Charles IX adopted the Gregorian dating system and sent out orders around his kingdom to *change the New Year's Day from April 1 to January 1*. The more obstinate crowd, refused to accept the new calendar and continued to celebrate the New Year on April 1. *These folks were labelled as 'fools' by the general populace*. It is common knowledge in Europe that this change in the dating system, says Wilson, "is where we get April Fool's Day".
💡 *The claim that this tradition originates from the event of Christians victory over Muslims in Andalusian Spain is false & a myth*. The myth proposes that Europeans made fool of Muslims by introducing Liquor & Tobacco to them and thus gradually weaken them through its indulgence.
💎 *Being truthful means speaking the truth and also saying things that reflect reality. It is one of the necessities of a human society, one of the virtues of human behavior, and brings great benefits, whilst lying is one of the major elements of corruption in human society, and the cause of the destruction of social structure and ties, one of the most evil features of bad conduct, and causes widespread harm. *Hence Islam commands truthfulness & forbids lying*.
“O you who believe! Be afraid of Allaah, and be with those who are true (in word and deeds).” [9:119]
Ibn Katheer (rh) said: “It means: be truthful and adhere to truthfulness, and you will be among its people and will be saved from calamity, and this will make a way out for you from your problems.”
“… if they had been true to Allaah, it would have been better for them.” [47:21]
🔮The Messenger (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said: *‘Woe to the one who lies to make people laugh, woe to him , woe to him*. In al-Saheehayn (al-Bukhari & Muslim) ‘Abd-Allah ibn Mas’ood (radiallahuanihu) : The Messenger of Allah (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said: *“I urge you to be truthful, for truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. A man will continue to be truthful and seek to speak the truth until he is recorded with Allah as speaker of truth (siddeeq). And beware of lying, for lying leads to immorality and immorality leads to Hell; a man will continue to tell lies until he is recorded with Allah as a liar.”* And it was narrated that ‘Abd-Allah ibn Mas’ood also said: Lying is not appropriate whether in earnest or in jest.
✅Hence immorality and righteousness are diametrically opposed.
Al-Hasan ibn ‘Ali ibn Abi Taalib (rh) said: “I memorized from the Messenger of Allaah (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam): *‘Leave that which makes you doubt for that which does not make you doubt, for truthfulness is certainty and tranquility, whilst lying is doubt and confusion.”* (al-Tirmidhi)
In the lengthy hadeeth of Abu Sufyaan describing his meeting with Heraclius, Abu Sufyaan (radiallahuanihu) said: “[Heraclius] said, ‘What does he [meaning the Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam] command you to do?’ I said, ‘He says: worship Allaah alone and do not associate anything in worship with Him, and abandon that which your forefathers did. He commands us to pray, to be truthful, to be chaste and to uphold the ties of kinship.’” (Bukhaari).
🎇 *Truthfulness includes being truthful towards Allaah by worshipping Him sincerely; being truthful towards one’s own soul by making it adhere to the laws of Allaah; and being truthful with people in one's words and by keeping one's promises, and in dealings such as buying, selling and marriage, so there should be no deceiving, cheating, falsifying or withholding of information*. Thus a person should be the same on the inside and the outside.Being truthful in promises and covenants is one of the characteristics by which the believers are known. Both promises and covenants involve saying something about an issue to confirm that you will do it, especially with regard to one's duties towards Allaah. Allaah says, praising some of His slaves :
*“… and who fulfil their covenant when they make it…” [2:177], [23:8] [33:23]*
❌As regards lying, it is highly forbidden. *The most obnoxious form of lying is falsely attributing things to Allaah and His Messenger*, because this involves fabrication about the religion and is an act of outrage against Allaah. Hence one of the characteristics of the Prophet is that he truthfully conveyed that which Allaah commanded him to convey.
*So Allaah said :
“… who does more wrong than one who invents a lie against Allaah, to lead mankind astray without knowledge. Certainly Allaah guides not the people who are zaalimoon (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.)” [6:144],[11:18]*. 🚦Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) also said : *“Whoever lies about me deliberately, let him take his place in Hell.”*  (Agreed upon). *Scholars are of the view that the one who deliberately tells lies about the Prophet (saw) is a kaafir*
https://islamqa.info/en/34725.
🚨In Islam, *Lying is  haram (impermissible) in all cases, expect those which are exempted by the Lawgiver, April fool’s day is not one of the exemptions*. Asma’ bint Yazeed said: “The Messenger of Allaah (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said: *‘Lying is not permitted except in three cases: a man’s speaking to his wife to make her happy; lying at times of war; and lying in order to reconcile between people.’”* (Saheeh Muslim). Ahmad narrated that *Abu Bakr (radiallahuanihu) said: O people, beware of lying, for lying is contrary to faith*. Saheeh. It is narrated in a saheeh report from Sa‘d ibn Abi Waqqaas (radiallahuanihu) that he said: The Muslim could develop all sorts of characteristics except treachery and lying. We ask Allaah to make us sincere and truthful in word and deed.
⚠NOTE THAT TAQQIYA (LIEING, CONCEALMENT & DISSIMULATION IN THE NAME OF RELIGION) HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ISLAM OF AHL AS-SUNNAH WA’L-JAMAA‘AH, IT IS A PILLAR OF THE RELIGION OF THE KUFAAR  5%ERS (SHIAS  OR  RAFIDAH REJECTERS ).

Who is Jesus.... Who is God

😭 *"....AND GOD DIED....." 1 OF 6*

🛑 *The words "Original Sin" doesn’t exist in the entire Bible*.The "fall" of Adam was an interpretation formed sometimes after the Exile & return of the Jews to Judea. *This is the heart of Christian theology as taught by the unidentifiable Paul (The liar & Fraudster).Paul proves himself to be a liar in Roman 3:7 “But if by my lie God's truth is amplified to His glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?”*.
👾Jesus, according to Paul was some kind of human/deity sacrifice to make up for the alleged "sin" of Adam where mankind became mortal as punishment for Adam. *Quoting Paul, Rom. 5:12, "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned". See Rom. 5:19*. 1 Cor. 15:22 "For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive." Another Pauline book Hebrews made a similar claim: "By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son..." (Hebrews 11:17), (Romans 4:2-5).

❌ *These are all Paul’s lies about Adam & Abraham*. In no manner had Abraham "offered up" his son “Ishmael” (not Isaac). He was ordered by God to sacrifice Ishmael (as a test) and because Abraham obeyed God's commands, he was blessed & his son was ransomed with an animal sacrifice. *Paul rewrote this vital passage to reflect his own theology, not that of God*.Paulinity (Christianity) claims there can be *no way to escape the taint of Adam other than by sacrifice/death of a 3 in 1 Man-God-Jesus BECAUSE HE WAS THE ONLY RIGHTEOUS ONE. It seems Paul forgot to read his Bible again about these 2 claims:*
💎Rom. 3:10 "As it is written, *There is none righteous, no, not one."* (Also see 1 John 1:8 and 10, Rom. 3:12, 5:12). “And the Lord said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation..” Gen. 7:1, see also Job 1:1 , Job 1:8, Luke 1:5-6.
🚨 *“The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him*. Deut. 24:16, 2 Kings 14:6, Ezekiel 18:20-21, 18:5.
"Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. O ye house of Israel, *I will judge you every one after his ways*." Ezek.33:20, Jer. 31:29-30.
🚦 *“If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. Now, however, they have no excuse for their sin*. Same in John 15:22-24.
✅ *SO, THERE IS NO BIBLICAL OR NON BIBLICAL BASIS WHATSOEVER FOR ANY GENETICALLY INHERITED SIN (“ORIGINAL SIN”).*
Anyways, the unidentifiable Paul (The liar & Fraudster) insists that ORIGINAL SIN of Adam & eve which we all genetically?  inherited need the death of God who came into the world in the form of Jesus (CRUCIFIXION) for atonement in order to get SALVATION. Makes perfect sense? NO, this is an extremely odd idea. Saint Augustine (354-430) was the first theologian to teach that man is born into this world in a state of sin. The false & unconnected basis of his belief is from the Bible (Genesis 3:17-19) where Adam is described as having disobeyed God by eating the forbidden fruit of the tree of knowledge in the Garden of Eden. *This fabrication became known as the original sin in the fabricated Paul made religion called Christianity/Paulinity.*
🔮Many Christians maintain blindly that the sin of Adam was? Genetically? Spiritually?  Transferred to all future generations, tainting even the unborn (AMAZING). Paul (thus Christianity) falsely claims *THAT A CHRISTIAN NEEDS ONLY TO BELIEVE IN JESUS AS LORD & SAVIOUR TO INHERIT ETERNAL LIFE; NOTHING ELSE IS REQUIRED OF HER/HIM. SALVATION IS A FREE MEAL. *Paul said, If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9*. However, Pauls answer *contradicts the answer supposedly given by our master Jesus (peace be upon him) when he was asked exactly the same question by the Rich young man/ruler.*
And as he was setting out on his journey, a man ran up and knelt before him and asked him, “Good Teacher, *what must I do to inherit eternal life?”* And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone. *You know the commandments*: ‘Do not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.’” And he said to him, “Teacher, all these I have kept from my youth.” And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” Disheartened by the saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions. Matthew 19:16–30, Mark 10:17–31, Luke 18:18–30.
💡 *Jesus our Master, could simply have said to the young man; accept me as your personal Lord & saviour but he did not say that because Jesus knew clearly that he was just a prophet & servant but not A GOD OR LORD OR A SAVIOUR OF ANYONE* inline with Isaiah 43:10-12 “You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may *know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor there one after me. I, even I, am the Lord, and apart from me there is no Savior*. I have revealed and saved and proclaimed—I, and not some foreign god among you. You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “that I am God. This is what Jesus came to fulfil. Jesus said "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. Mathew 5:17.
⚠So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, *“If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 18:31*. So, do Christians of today abide by the word of Jesus or word of Paul regarding how to attain salvation? Definitely NO. *So, they are not true followers of Jesus; therefore there is no salvation or eternal life for them & Paul.*

Blissful strife 3

BLISSFUL STRIFE
(the blissful struggles of a Muslimah)

    CHAPTER THREE

It was a sunny Sunday morning. The weather was calm and the trees that beautified every road along Victoria lsland were swaying sided by side as they danced to the rhythm of the friendly wind. The government's Green revolution plan is really working wonders on every Lagos road. It's a great thing to plant trees. There are loads of benefits they give to the society. some passerbys thought as they stared at the beautiful trees and flowers in admiration.

A black Range Rover Sports suddenly parked in front of Glit Crunchy eatery. Alhaji Arowolo had bought the Range Rover for Fauziyah the day she got admitted into the University. She usually showed off the car on campus as a freshman with loud music blaring from the car's stereo. But after her repentance, she had stopped listening to music, and had devoted more time in learning the Quran. She rarely drives the car to school and only uses it whenever she has an important event to attend. She is still striving to stay humble and wouldn't let all the wealth get into her head.

Fauziyah highlighted from the driver's side and Faheem also came down from the passenger's side. Fauziyah adjusted her khimar, locked the car and headed for the eatery's doorway with her brother.
" welcome sir, welcome ma". The security man greeted, as he opened the door for them.

"Thank you sir" Fauziyah replied with a curt smile.

She was so excited to be meeting Muktar for the second time, it felt like they had not seen each other for years. She was also happy to have worn her Khimar from home. Her parents had traveled to Singapore for a business meeting. So she had the luxury of wearing them at home as she pleases before their return.

Immediately they entered the eatery, Fauziyah spotted Muktar and Habeeb sited at a cool corner of the eatery. Muktar spotted her too and waved his right hand to signal. Fauziyah and her brother approached their table. Muktar and Habeeb stood up to greet them.

"Asalamualeikum" Muktar greeted as he stretch forth his hands to shake Faheem.

"Wa aleikum salaam" Fauziyah and Faheem chorused.

Habeeb also greeted them before they all settled down to have their seats. Fauziyah sat beside her brother opposite Muktar and Habeeb.

" What will you like to have?" Muktar asked his guests.

" water will do for now" Fauziyah said.

" l will like to have a glass of orange juice" Faheem also responded.

Muktar called the waiter and gave him their orders.

" So, how are you all doing?" Muktar asked as he gave Faheem a questioning look.

"Alhamdullilah! we are fine" Fauziyah said.

Muktar's gaze was still fixed on Faheem. He was expecting Fauziyah to formally introduce them to each other but since it didn't happen, he decided to spring it up himself. " You look so much like Fauziyah" Muktar said curiously to Faheem.

" Oh Subhanallah! sorry, He is my younger brother, Faheem." Fauziyah exclaimed. After realizing that she was yet to introduce them. " l apologize for not introducing him initially. it skipped my mind".

" okay. Apologies accepted" .Muktar said with a smile. " I thought as much. I knew the both of you were related the moment you both walked in... The two of you could pass for twins you know." Muktar said amusingly.

" yes, people do say that" Faheem said with a giggle. " But she still remains my big sister, even though I'm now a bit taller than her". He joked.

" naughty you little brother" Fauziyah said with a gentle laughter.

"Asalamualeikum brother" Muktar greeted Faheem again.

" wa aleikum salaam Muktar, don't bother introducing yourself because I know you already like ki lo de?" Faheem said jokingly.

They all gave a hearty laugh at Faheem's joke as the waiter served their orders.

Suddenly, there was an awkward silence among them after their short laughter had died down. Everyone seemed to be busy with their refreshments. Fauziyah sipped her water gently. Faheem and Habeeb were also busy with their drinks. Muktar was quietly holding his drink and looking at nothing in particular. It was so obvious to Fauziyah that he wanted her to break the silence. He wanted her response to his proposal. He was eager to know what she had decided.

Fauziyah knew there was no need to prolong anything. She had sincerely done her istikaraah and have seen different signs that Muktar was truly meant for her. All she needed to do now is accept his proposal and see how she could convince her parents to get her married.

Fauziyah cleared her throat- trying to break the silence. " Muktar... about your proposal...l have made a decision and I want to give you an answer". she said.

Muktar dropped his glass of pineapple juice and turned to face his guests. " Na'am, l am all ears". He said, as he tried to maintain his composure even though his heart has began to beat faster than usual. He was too eager to know what she would say. He prayed silently and hoped for a positive answer.

" My answer is... Na'am, YES. I am willing to be your wife" . Fauziyah said almost excitedly.

Muktar gave a loud exhale, with his hands on this chest. " Alhamdullilah! Alhamdullilah! Alhamdullilah". He said happily as Habeeb and Faheem looked on with  a lovely smile on their faces.

" Honestly I'm short of words, all I can just say is Alhamdullilah. All praise and glory belongs to Allaah. I also did my istikaraah and you are the one that keeps popping in my mind all along. l thank Allaah for all the good signs and I promise to be the best husband l can be.  l also promise to stand by you and treat you like the queen that you are, by Allaah's infinite mercy" Muktar assured.

" Na'am, l also promise to be the best wife I can be" Fauziyah seconded.

" Masha Allah" Habeeb and Faheem chorused as they couldn't hold back their smile and envy for the to-be couple.

"So, when should I come over to visit your parents in preparation for our Nikkah?". Muktar asked anxiously.

This question struck Fauziyah like an heavy blow to her chest. She was so happy to be getting married but there are obstacles, loads of obstacles to surmount before it could ever happen. The first hindrance was her Father, who is also her waliy and would be responsible for giving her hand out in marriage. How does she convince him to accept her marriage proposal as an undergraduate? She has been grappling with this question for so long. Now that she has finally accepted Muktar's proposal, how does she convince her father to invite Muktar over for their Marriage Preparation? She was lost in these thoughts before Faheem jolted her back to reality.

Faheem tapped her gently on the shoulder " Big Sis, what's wrong?"

     "Uhn... Uhn..." She shrugged

"Are you okay?" Muktar asked worriedly.

" I am fine ...about your question, I will inform my Dad. l will let you know when he wants you to visit. insha Allaah". Fauziyah said almost absentmindedly.

" Okay, May Allaah make it easy" Muktar prayed.

      " Aameen" they all chorused.

Muktar signaled to the waiter, as he appeared before them to take their orders for a main course of the Jollof rice, salad and peppered Chicken.

After having their sumptuous meals, they all rose to leave. Faheem exchanged numbers with Habeeb and Muktar and they bade each other farewell after saying their taslim.

Fauziyah and her brother hopped into her Range Rover and zoomed off. Muktar and Habeeb watched them leave before  they also left in  Habeeb's mini  Golf Car.

...to be continued.

Blissful strife 2

BLISSFUL STRIFE
*_(the blissful struggles of a Muslimah)

CHAPTER TWO

" Hmnnn" Fauziyah sighed again. " one of the obstacles is my family, especially my father. He doesn't want me to get married as an undergraduate. l am 25, I feel I am old enough to decide when I want to get married but he still treats me like a baby. Getting married is what I want right now but my Dad doesn't want that for me yet." she paused a bit to prevent herself from crying. She sniffed then continued her explanation, " I have been through a lot in my life Muktar. I was born into a Muslim family but I never practiced Islam the way a Muslim should. My parents were the busy type you know, they never taught us solah, sawm, and all other pillars of Islam. In my family, the daily routines are work, travels and parties. My Daddy rarely stays at home.  If he doesn't travel to China today, then it's India tomorrow or London the following day. He hardly spend much time with us. For me and my siblings, life was fun, fun, fun. We had everything money could buy but I still felt that emptiness deep within , I felt l was missing something . Something so valuable and priceless that money and all the riches of this world can't buy, but I could not decode what it was. So, I had a rough time knowing about Islam until I got admitted into the university. Alhamdullilah for the vibrant MSSN and the good sisters l met in school, they were the guide Allah had used to show me the light and made me see the true beauty of Islam. This is my fourth year in the University and I still have two  more years to complete my degree in veterinary medicine. But I don't think I can wait anymore, l can't"  Fauziyah adjusted her khimar. she didn't know why she was telling her story to Muktar but she already felt the need to do so. She needed someone to talk to, someone to hear her pain. lt was like lifting a heavy load off her chest and she felt a great relief within herself.

She continued as Muktar listened with rapt attention. " Since the day I became a practicing Muslim, life has been a struggle. My father and I have not been in good terms right from the very first day he saw me in Khimar. It was the intervention of his close friend, Sheik Aliu, that made him allow me wear short Hijab. I only wear my Khimar when I'm in school. I have to hide them in my bag whenever I'm about going home because I know what my Dad is capable of doing if he sees the Khimar on me again. My parent look at me with disdain whenever they see me wearing the short Hijab, talk less of the khimar.  It's a sad situation for me but I believe that someday, they will accept me for who I am. Someday, they will understand that it's the right thing to do- this is what many Muslim parents want for their children but my own case is the entire opposite. I mean, there are parents out there praying for their children especially their daughters to be good muslimahs and great ambassadors of Islam. They pray for children that will always remember and pray for them that Allah put them in Jannah after their demise. My parent now have that on a platter of gold and they don't seem to realize it.  l have made some mistakes in the past that I am not proud of, but now that I have found Islam, I want to be a better person than I was yesterday. Getting married is what I need right now because it's a feeling I feel everyday".
Fauziyah concluded.

" Alhamdullilah, Allaahu Akbar! " Muktar exclaimed after digesting all Fauziyah had been telling him. " l understand your  situation perfectly well. I feel your pain Fauziyah. But I want you to see whatever you are going through now as a test from Almighty Allaah. It is evident In Quran chapter twenty nine, Suratual Ankaboot, were Allaah says that we shall all face one trial or the order and there is no true servant of Allaah that would not be tested. I want you to read that surah and reflect on its teachings. There are many other surahs that lay emphasis on this. You will be tested with everything you have, your parents, your wealth, your family, everything! But one thing is paramount- Eeman. Once you have faith in Allah, you shall overcome every difficulty. I am ready to support you and help you get through it all insha Allah. Just have faith in Allaah's plan, everything will be okay" Muktar assured. " But you have not said anything about my proposal yet, what do you say about that?" Muktar asked with a smile.

Fauziyah exhaled deeply," I am not in the position to decide that yet. I would like you to give me time to do my Istikaarah. I need Allaah's guidance. I will know what response to give you after seeking His infinite guidance, kindly exercise sabr".

"ok then, I will, l am very patient, but please don't take tooooo long oooo" Muktar said  jokingly" I will also do mine too and I pray that Allaah in his infinite wisdom guide us aright".

"Aameen, may Allaah also ease our affairs and continue to keep us firm on the Deen" Fauziyah prayed.

      "Aameen thuma Aameen" Muktar replied.

They both rose from their sits, said their taslim and bade each other farewell.

                  ******************************

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Grrrrrrrrrrrrr Grrrrrrrrrrr! Fauziyah was suddenly woken up from sleep by the Screeching sound that emanated from her alarm clock. It was 12:30 am in the early hours of the morning. She had set the alarm the previous day to enable her wake up at midnight to perform her Istikaarah. She was an heavy sleeper and the only way she could do her istikarah was to set an alarm so that she could wake up at the appropriate time. Sleeping Heavily is one problem she is also trying to overcome. She wished she could wake up for Tahjud without her alarm clock disturbing her ears, but she couldn't. Not in her father's house where no one cared. She could only observe Tahjud at school with her roommate and bestie, Fareedah. Fareedah has been playing a better role than her Alarm clock by waking her up at the appreciate time with a gently tap. "Fauziyah, it's time for Tahjud, wake up, wake up!" She would say, very quietly.
Abimbola her second roommate cared less, she just kept snoring away whenever they tried waking her up. Though, they always wake her up for Fagr, but this was only achieved after Fareedah had sprinkled a handful of water on her face. "Ohhhh, Fareedah you have started again o" Abimbola would whine angrily. "Can't you allow me sleep in peace? You sha like to disturb my beautiful sleep".
"No, I'm not disturbing your sleep, it's very important that you wake up for fajr. You can always sleep later. Remember that prayer is better than sleep" Fareedah would always say.

"Yes, Abimbola, you need to create time to remember your maker. The one who created you is more important than your sleep you know. Please get up to perform ablution and come and join us for Fagr" Fauziyah encouraged.

" e se pupo ma, thank you very much Sunnah Alhajas. Both of you should just mind yourselves and stop pouring water on my face o" Abimbola would say defiantly while heading for the bathroom to perform ablution.
"Oh Allaah, please make her a better Muslimah. Aameen" Fauziyah would pray silently as she watched Abimbola leave for the bathroom.

Fauziyah waived the thoughts of her roommates behind and sluggishly got up from her king size bed and went into the bathroom to perform her ablution. Then she grabbed her prayer mat and  spread it on the floor .  She took her khimar from her traveling bag, wore it and proceeded to observe two Rakahs of voluntary prayer. After saying her taslim, she began to recite the dua for istikaarah that she had memorized at the madrasa she attended during her second year at the University:
     " Bismillah

O Allah, I seek the counsel of Your Knowledge, and I seek the help of Your Omnipotence, and I beseech You for Your Magnificent Grace. Surely, You are Capable and I am not. You know and I know not, and You are the Knower of the unseen. O Allah, if You know that Muktar is good for me in my religion and in my life and for my welfare  in the life to come or afterlife then  ordain him for me and make it easy for me, then bless me with him. And if You know that Muktar is bad for me in my religion and in my life and for my welfare in the life to come, or afterlife - then distance him from me, and distance me from him, and ordain for me who is good wherever he may be, and help me to be content with him. Aameen".

After making the dua for istikaraah, she stood up to perform six rakahs of voluntary prayer before going back to sleep.

                         ***********

As weeks swiftly passed by, Fauziyah kept having the feeling that Muktar was the one for her. His thoughts enveloped her mind daily even though she haven’t seen him nor talk to him since their first meeting, until yesterday afternoon when he had sent her a text message for a second meeting. All she could do was hope for the best and see what Allaah has planned for her. They agreed to meet for the second time at a fast food eatery around Victoria Island. She was ready to accept Muktar's proposal and get herself ready for marital life if Allaah wills.

Fauziyah pleaded with her immediate younger brother, Faheem to escort her to meet Muktar. As a practicing Muslimah, she understands the importance of having her Mahram by her side especially for such outing. In order to avoid fitnah and maintain her piety- she needs to do things the right way.

Fauziyah had told Faheem about Muktar, immediately she got home after their first meeting. He was the only member of her family she could confide in. Faheem was so happy for her when she told him and was so eager to meet Muktar in person. " Masha Allaah sister, I'm so happy for you ooo, Ire a Kari o.I pray I find a pious sister to marry too someday" Faheem had said.
"Aameen. But if you want a pious sister you also need to work towards being a pious brother. So that the both of you can raise pious children that can serve as a good role model to the generation unborn!" Fauziyah chipped in.
" yes big sis. I will work towards that." Faheem promised.

Faheem had seen a lot of positive changes in his sister since she began to practice and he had also vowed to change too and become a better person due to her positive influence and frequent teachings. He remembered the day she sat him down in the living room to give him a quick lecture about life-“ Faheem, what is the purpose of our existence in this world? Why are we here?” she had asked him “ l want you to know that there is more to this life than partying and frolicking around little brother, the Qur’an says that the life of this world is nothing but a temporary enjoyment that will fade away in no time. The true enjoyment is in the hereafter, that's if you strive to make it into Jannah. May Allaah count us among it dwellers. Aameen. Now, tell me, Where are the rich men of yesterday? Did their money and luxuries follow them to the grave? Their faith and deeds are the only partners that will be with them in the grave. Remember that we shall all be raised the way we die. Now tell me, how do you want to be raised? A believer or disbeliever?  Faheem, l want you to reflect on life and grab a hold of the Qur’an. Read the English version since you don’t understand Arabic. Read and see what Allah is telling us. Read suratul Naba, read Baqarah, read Suratul Nisai, read the whole of the Quran and start all over again. You can't get tired of reading it because the words are always fresh to the ears and soothing to the soul. I want you to also reflect on every word as you read them. For me, the Qur'an is the only book I know that could make a grown man cry so hard due to its powerful message. Know the true purpose of life from its right source which are the Quran and Hadith. My brother, the true purpose of life is to worship your Creator, Allaah Azzawajal. I want you to turn to Him in sincere repentance. He is the most merciful and most forgiving Lord and I have faith that He will forgive all your sins once you turn to him in sincere repentance. He is the owner of your life and everything you have. I urge you to submit to Him before it’s too late because we don’t know when the angel of death will come knocking. Let’s use the little time we have wisely. I want you to turn a new leave for Allah’s sake little brother. I promise to guide you through it all.”  Fauziyah had advised him.

Since the day he received the short admonition from his sister, he vowed to stop going to the club and had also cut ties with his bad friends. It felt like he was finally being set free from a cage. This was what he had longed for, he knew  he was lost and needed someone to show him the way. He quit taking alcohol, gambling and had stopped doing other illicit activities he usually do. He doesn't misses his solah anymore, and has sincerely sought repentance from Allaah for all his misdeeds. He is now trying to keep upholding the dictates of the glorious Qur'an and Sunnah.  Thanks to his big Sister, Fauziyah, who made him a better man. He couldn't ask for a better sister, he had thought.

Blissful strife

BLISSFUL STRIFE
*_(the blissful struggles of a muslimah)_*

CHAPTER ONE
Cool breeze rarely swing in during the hot season, but today, things were different. The atmosphere seemed calm at the  Arowolo's mansion that peacefully lay at the heartbeat of Ikoyi, Lagos. The garden looked serene and the beautiful flowers further helped accentuate it's endearing beauty. The mansion could pass for a king's palace. There were fleets of exotic cars nicely parked at the garage.
It was a very cool Saturday morning, the weather was so friendly unlike what had happened the previous weeks where it left everyone having to take a  shower almost every hour.
Everyone in the Arowolo's mansion were overwhelmed with excitement as guests, friends and relatives trooped in and out of the mansion due to the event of the day- Alhaji Arowolo's first daughter Fauziyah is getting married. This probably explains the reason for the friendly weather, some guests thought.
The bride, Fauziyah was in her room with her two besties Fareedah and Abimbola, who were getting her ready for her big day.
" Ah, I'm so nervous, l..." Fauziyah said playfully.
" What are you nervous about girl?" Abimbola cuts in." This is your big day and it happens once in a life time. That's if Allaah wills o. I pray you do it only once o, no drama, no divorce, no death, the both of you will grow old together and see your great, great, great grand children."  she said jokingly. " you need to be excited, cheer up joor and smile for me".
They all laughed at Abimbola's  joke.
Fauziyah gave a small grin " Look, Abimbola, it's not that I'm not excited, it's just that I am just... you know. I don't even understand how I feel".
" Sis, I understand you perfectly well. I felt the same way when I was about to get married too. it's okay to feel that way. Just keep calm and let's get ready. you are already glowing. iyawo tuntun" Fareedah encouraged while giving her a big hug as she tried to cheer her up.

Fauziyah and her besties have known each other right from secondary school. Out of her two besties, Fauziyah's favorite was Fareedah. she is a cool, kind and gentle girl that likes to play the role of a big sister to Fauziyah, even though she was a few months older than Fareedah.
Abimbola on the other hand is a socialite. Her Muslim name is Balqees but she would rather prefer to be called Abimbola. She is the care free type and has an indifferent attitude towards being a practicing Muslim. Fauziyah made friends with her with the hope that she can help her become a better muslimah as she has become one herself. Apart from her care free attitude, Abimbola is funny and outspoken, she was one of the most popular girls in their secondary school due to her Socialite traits.

The three friends have been together for so long and now that they attend the same University, it further helped strengthen their friendship bond.

As Fauziyah prepared for her wedding, her mind flashed back to the events that had unfold before her big day. She vividly remembered the struggle, the pain, the agony and humiliation she encountered from her very own family before they could get her married as an undergraduate. She thought about how easy it was for her bestie Fareedah to get married when she wanted to, probably because of the kind of family she have. Fareedah's father was a Chief Imam who also doubles as a medical doctor at a private Hospital in Ikoyi. Her father had a better understanding of the Shari'a and could easily get Fareedah married when she requested for it. But for Fauziyah, her case was so different.

She reminisced about the first day she met her husband-to-be, Muktar. It was her course mate Habeeb that had introduced them to each other at a Charity Event that was organized by their department.
Muktar was a tall dark man with a big set of eyeballs that helped accentuate his handsomeness. His beards were nicely combed and the Kampala he wore fitted his gait perfectly.
" Asalamualeikum" he said to Fauziyah after Habeeb introduced them to each other.
" wa aleikum salaam sir" Fauziyah answered with her gaze lowered a bit to the floor.

Fauziyah could not look at Muktar in the eyes because she wants to maintain her bashfulness, she was shy, too shy to look at his charming smile. She was trying to be as pious as possible and would not want entertain any lustful thought in her heart. She has been trying to uphold her piety since the day she decided to become  a practicing Muslim and she would never let her own desires ruin it.
"oh please, I am not sir o, I'm still a small boy o. just call me Muktar okay". Muktar protested jokingly.

      "Alright sir...sorry... Muktar" Fauziyah replied.

" My friend Habeeb has told me quite a lot about you and seeing you now explains everything". Muktar said while gazing at the flowers that surrounded the garden that was being used for the event. He watched as students from various institutions donated different relief items to charity.
The both of them sat on a long wooden chair in the garden with a few distance apart from each other.
" Honestly, I am serious about wanting to get married and I don't know what you think about me, but  from my own end, I will love you to be my wife insha Allaah" Muktar said as he turned to Fauziyah to hear her response and see her reaction.

Fauziyah's gaze was still fixed to the floor " I don't know what to say". she said almost silently. " you said Habeeb told you a lot about me, please, could you tell me the things he told you? I will like to know them if you don't mind?".

Muktar looked away and said, " well, most of the things he told me were not too particular, that's why I would like to know more from you. He told me your age, tribe, that you are kind, friendly and jovial and that you are the first daughter of the oil tycoon, Alhaji Arowolo. He also told me about your intention to get married as an undergraduate. To say the fact, I don't think that getting married as an undergraduate is a big deal at all, but some people made it so. I am in my final year and I also intend to get married because I feel I'm old enough for marriage. May Allaah assist us"

Fauziyah exhaled deeply " Aameen, What Habeeb told you is just a bit from what you need to know. Look Muktar, I don't just want to get married to any man but a man who is firm upon the Qur'an and sunnah. A man that will help me get better and keep my feet firm upon this Deen. Habeeb told me about you too. He said that you are an Ahlul Sunnah". Fauziyah chuckled.

" yes, but, we are all Ahlul Sunnah in as much as we follow the injunctions of the Glorious Qur'an and sunnah". Muktar corrected.

" Na'am, very true. I think Habeeb is ignorant of that fact. May Allaah grant us understanding".
      They both chorused"Aameen"

" As I was saying earlier, my intention to get married as an undergraduate has a few obstacles but I believe that by Allaah's mercy, l shall overcome them".

"Subhanallah! what are these obstacles?" Muktar asked eagerly.

     "Hmmmmnnnn" Fauziyah sighed heavily.

" please talk to me Fauziyah, I am here to help you overcome them". Muktar assured her with worries clearly showing on his face.
